Is the ProvenGK Enduran good for astro and 3G?

Yes. The Enduran uses the same 4mm contact latex palm as the Durashield 2.0, which is the glove ProvenGK customers already run on 3G week in, week out. It is suitable for grass, astro and 3G, and it will wear the way every latex glove wears on artificial surfaces: faster than on grass. This post is about what that means in practice.

Why latex wears faster on 3G

Artificial surfaces are abrasive. Rubber crumb and synthetic fibre act like fine sandpaper on a latex palm every time you dive, push up or roll. There is no glove on the market that is immune to this. Brands that claim "3G-proof" latex are describing a compound that wears slightly slower, not one that doesn't wear.

What actually determines how long a glove lasts on 3G:

  1. Latex thickness. 4mm gives you more material to wear through than the 3mm you'll find on a lot of gloves at this price.
  2. Latex quality. Contact latex is a soft, tacky compound. It grips well, and it's the same compound family used across the ProvenGK range for that reason. Softer latex wears faster than harder latex, so a soft, thick palm is the balance: grip you can feel, with enough depth to last.
  3. How you look after it. This is the one you control, and it matters more than the difference between any two brands.

How long will the Enduran last on 3G?

It depends on how often you play, how you dive, and whether you wash them. Keepers who wash after every session and keep a second pair for training get noticeably more life out of the same palm than keepers who leave them in the bag. The Durashield 2.0 has been on 3G pitches since 2024 with the same latex, so it's the benchmark: if you've had a pair, the Enduran will wear the same way.

We'll update this with a documented wear test on the Enduran once we've put a pair through a controlled number of 3G sessions.

How to make it last longer

  • Dampen the palms before you play. Dry contact latex is stiffer and tears more easily. A splash of water before warm-up is enough.
  • Wash after every session. Lukewarm water, a glove wash or mild soap, no wringing. Rubber crumb left in the latex keeps grinding at it every time you flex the glove.
  • Air dry, out of direct sun. Heat hardens latex.
  • Don't push up off the ground with your palms. Use your fists or fingertips. This is the biggest single cause of premature palm wear and it's a habit, not a glove problem.
  • Run two pairs. One for 3G training, one for grass matches. It roughly doubles the life of both.

What the Enduran doesn't do

  • It doesn't have a harder "3G-specific" latex. We kept the softer contact compound because grip was what customers ranked first.
  • It doesn't have finger spines. If you specifically want spines for 3G, this isn't the glove.
  • It doesn't fit roomy. The negative cut is snug by design.

FAQ

Is the Enduran good for astro?
Yes. Same 4mm contact latex as the rest of the ProvenGK range, suitable for grass, astro and 3G.

Does the Enduran have 3G-specific latex?
No. It uses contact latex, chosen for grip. Latex wears faster on 3G on every glove; care makes the bigger difference.

How do I stop my gloves wearing out on 3G?
Dampen before play, wash after every session, air dry, don't push up on your palms, and rotate two pairs.

Which ProvenGK glove is best for 3G?
The Enduran and Durashield 2.0 use the same palm and wear the same way. Pick on fit and price: Enduran vs Durashield 2.0.
